ARGAN BEDAYA ZONE 3

Sabah El-Salem, Kuwait - ABORTED 2023
The ABZ3 project endeavors to seamlessly integrate into the existing masterplan, while providing a fitting conclusion to the intervention both programmatically and architecturally. It does so by incorporating elements from the surrounding zones, while offering its own unique identity. The main program, which consists of 60 key serviced apartments, is laid around a central courtyard to maximize the number of rooms while providing external views. This elevated courtyard serves as a focal point and distinguishes the project as a public space intimately connected with the city. It allows for natural light penetration, providing a serene oasis within the bustling urban context. Architecturally, AB-Z3 stands out as a luminous beacon, drawing attention from afar. A translucent screen envelops the courtyard, acting as a filter for the hotel's internal lighting. As the lights glow through its surface, hues of red, reminiscent of the architectural gestures in the surrounding zones 1 and 2 (running track and fire escapes), pay homage to the existing elements while infusing the project with a sense of continuity and harmony.

A translucent screen envelops the courtyard, acting as a filter for the hotel’s internal lighting. As the lights glow through its surface, hues of red, reminiscent of the architectural gestures in the surrounding zones 1 and 2 (running track and fire escapes), pay homage to the existing elements while infusing the project with a sense of continuity and harmony. This continuity is also achieved physically, whereby on the first floor, residents of the serviced apartments are allowed a controlled access to the floating running track which connects all components of the masterplan. They can also access the sports center in basement 1 which spatially overflows into zone 1.

The ground floor dedicated to commercial and F&B outlets welcomes visitors with a public piazza, strategically positioned to face a drop-off area and a large public parking facility. This integration ensures convenience for both hotel guests and the general public, promoting accessibility and enhancing the overall experience.

Crowning the project is a rooftop adorned with a penthouse and a pool deck plus lounge.
Located on the western edge to take advantage of late afternoon light and sunset, the infinity pool and deck offer breathtaking views of the cityscape and the project below.
