This proposal for a low-cost housing project in the region of Zakrit, is deeply informed by the constraints of the site; a longitudinal, narrow plot of land which imposed the subdivision of the built-up area into three separate buildings. One block takes its exposure from the access road at the edge, while the other two are laid out around a central courtyard. Architecturally, the scheme is articulated around a set of vertical stone screens of various textures framing the slabs in a composition of alternating backgrounds and foregrounds. The detached folding planes of the penthouses clad in black terracotta tiles crown the volumetry. In an effort to keep the product accessible to a widespread clientele without compromising the family configuration (2 to 3 bedroom typologies), apartments size vary from 100 to 150sqm with a maximal exposure that is enhanced by the thinness of the site.
